“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

She came to the well because she was thirsty. It was a simple, ordinary need, but that day Jesus used it to speak to something much deeper. He knew that the water in her jar could only satisfy her for a little while. What she really needed could not be drawn from a well.

Maybe we are not so different from her. We all know what it is like to be thirsty for something more, to look for satisfaction in things that can only give us temporary relief. Jesus knew her deepest need, and He knows ours too. He does not ask us to keep searching. He invites us to come to Him.

He offers what no one else can

from Scripture to Studio

I began with Jesus' words and the woman who first heard them.

As I imagined the scene, I wanted this painting to feel like a glimpse into the moment. The landscape and water create the setting, while the woman and Jesus become part of a much larger story about being known, being seen, and finding something that truly satisfies.
